The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Urmia University of Technology (UUT) began its academic programs in 2013 as the Aerospace Engineering group, part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In 2019, the Aerospace group separated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and continued its activities as an independent group. The faculty members in Aerospace Engineering are a selected group from the most prestigious universities in Iran, creating an environment of expertise and collaboration across various fields of aerospace engineering.
Aerospace engineering is one of the most exciting and challenging engineering disciplines. It typically focuses on the design, development, and testing of aircraft and includes various fields such as aerodynamics, structures, flight dynamics and control, propulsion systems, and engines, which are involved in the design and optimization of advanced components and systems for commercial and military vehicles. Students and professionals in this field study the principles of flight, navigation, and technologies related to commercial and military aviation. Research areas may include improving flight performance, developing propulsion systems, and enhancing safety features in air and space travel. Overall, the aerospace sector plays a vital role in advancing technology and innovation in aviation and space. The continuous global expansion of the aerospace industry has created a strong demand for aerospace engineers. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the aerospace industry is growing at a significantly higher rate than the global average. The strategic and economic characteristics of this field are among the factors that lead governments to pay special attention to it, prioritizing the growth of aircraft production, facilities, maintenance, and related aviation industries in their strategic programs. Our aerospace programs at Urmia University of Technology include theoretical training in areas such as structures, aerodynamics, flight mechanics, control, performance, propulsion systems, and aircraft design, as well as practical training that includes relevant workshops and laboratories
