Department of Physics at Urmia University of Technology
The Department of Physics has started its activity since 2010 with providing general physics 1 and 2, basic physics laboratory 1 and 2 and electromagnetic courses for engineering fields. With the completion of the academic staff , this group took action to accept students for master's degree in solid state field and doctoral degree in fundamental physics . The first entries of the master and doctoral degrees students were in February 2012. The physics group right now has five fulltime academic staff, one full professor, two associated professor and two assistant professors. One of group members has retired recently.

Admission Requirements
For national candidates admission to a major in our university is based upon the performance of them in the Iranian University Entrance Exam (Konkoor/Concours) – it is the Standard means of entry to universities in Iran. Candidates must have previously taken this exam and have achieved the minimum passing score required to study in this major at Urmia University of Technology.
International candidates for doctoral degree studies must have a minimum grade point average of 60 on a 100 scale in their master's degree in their home country.
