The Master's programme is divided into three main subject areas: Italian Language / Italian and Comparative Literature / Arts, History and Civilisation, in an integrated educational path that favours the meeting of knowledge generally professed in different fields, separated by disciplinary boundaries. Italian literature, the central theme, is thus proposed in constant comparison with the context of the civilisation within which it is produced and studied. The teaching staff includes specialists of international renown and established research prestige. Learning is facilitated by the Italian-speaking environment, open to multilingualism, and by the ideal study conditions of the Università della Svizzera italiana.

Admission Requirements

  • Students who have obtained a Bachelor's degree in the humanities with an adequate number of credits in the various disciplines of the Italian language (at least 60 out of 180). Those who discuss their final Bachelor's degree by the end of the current year may be admitted to the Master's course.
  • Students who have obtained a four-year degree in the humanities, subject to evaluation of their previous studies and possible interview with the Director of the Master's course. They may complete the Master's degree with 60 credits of study plus completion of the thesis.

    The Master's degree course director reserves the right to supplement the study plan with some fundamental courses where these are not present in the candidate's university curriculum.
