Master
The University of Alberta consists of over 400 buildings and structures across five campuses comprising almost 1.7 million square meters of real estate. Our busiest campus, North Campus, is located along the beautiful North Saskatchewan River.
Work is always ongoing to improve University of Alberta facilities - with new construction projects to accommodate the university’s evolving needs and growth as well as with renewal projects to improve the condition of our existing buildings and grounds. Recent investments include a health sciences library , a structural engineering laboratory , a world-class tennis centre , the largest ever capital funded U of A project , and the modernization of residence buildings, including the original and largest community on campus, Lister .
The U of A prioritized sustainable operations and investments, such as our district energy system - one of the five largest campus systems in North America. The Energy and Climate Action office often partner with university departments, faculties or external stakeholders to find new ways to reduce the university's environmental impact and remain a leader in sustainable operations-now and in the future. Projects include the installation of solar photovoltaic panels on south-facing building facades, replacing aging lighting with energy-efficient LEDs and funding student or staff sustainability initiatives on campus.

Events
One aspect of experiencing student life at the University of Alberta is attending campus events. There’s something for everyone! The university hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, conferences and concerts. The Students’ Union hosts a variety of events from free live music to trivia nights to orientation events and more. You can even cheer on your Golden Bears and Pandas in basketball, volleyball, hockey, football and more. Students attend for free!

With over 450 student groups, you’re bound to find a group to get involved with during your time at the U of A. Student Group Services supports student life by providing programming and administrative assistance to student-run clubs and organizations on campus.
