About Saveetha Institute of Medical And Technical Sciences (SIMATS)

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) is one of fifteen private universities in India to enjoy complete academic autonomy based on their continued successful rankings, in particular their Saveetha Dental College and Hospital ranked third in the 2021 NIRF ranking of Dental Colleges in India and eighteenth in dentistry in the 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject. They also achieved a diamond QS I-Guage rating as of 2021.   
The Saveetha Medical and Education Trust, created in 1986 to provide medical relief while promoting education and research, founded the Saveetha Dental College and the attached General Hospital in 1988. To achieve ‘Deemed to be University’ status, the trust sponsored the Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences in the year 2001 – developing into the institution we know today.
       
SIMATS is located in Chennai, India, the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu and its largest in area and population. It is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, and is the most prominent cultural, economic and educational centre of South India.

Saveetha Medical College 
Find admissions information on their website. Their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery require candidates to have passed physics, chemistry, biology or biotechnology and English in 12th Standard and a minimum of 50% marks (40% in some instances) in physics, chemistry, biology or biotechnology and be NEET (UG) - 2021 qualified plus rank in the merit list of NEET (UG) - 2021. 

Saveetha Dental College 
Find admissions information on undergraduate and other certifications on their website. Their Bachelor of Dental Surgery (4 years followed by a 1-year basic dental course internship) requires candidates to have passed higher secondary school or equivalent in CBSE, ICSE or state boards and be qualified in NEET-UG 2021. International candidates should have completed higher secondary school equivalent courses in physics, chemistry and biology, plus an equivalence certificate from the AIU and qualified in NEET-UG 2021. Tuition fees for this course are 8,00,000 Indian rupees per year for domestic students and 15,000 USD per year for international students. 

Saveetha School of Engineering

Saveetha College of Physiotherapy 
Find information on their undergraduate, postgraduate, doctorate and other certification programmes on their website. Their Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) requires candidates to have finished higher secondary education.  

Saveetha College of Nursing 
Find admissions information on their website for BSc Nursing and Post Basic BSc Nursing. Their BSc Nursing requires candidates to be seventeen, have completed the two years intermediate or HSc or equivalent course in English, physics, chemistry and biology from a recognised Indian university or pre- university and achieved marks of 60% or above. International students require the necessary level of teaching, an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and a student visa.  

Saveetha School of Law

Saveetha College of Pharmacy 
The programmes they offer include a B.Pharm Bachelor of Pharmacy (4 years) which requires a pass (minimum 50%) in physics, chemistry with biology, mathematics or computer science, or a diploma in pharmacy for direct entry to year 2. Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy 
The programmes they offer include a BOT (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy) which is 4 years plus a six-month internship). It requires candidates to have completed 10+2 class passed in physics, chemistry, biology or botany and zoology and English with aggregate of 60% marks from recognised board under CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or equivalent board or per university.    

Saveetha College of Allied Health Sciences 
They offer BSc Hons (Allied Health Sciences) across a variety of medical fields and BSc Hons (Clinical Psychology) and have an online application.  

Saveetha College of Architecture 
Their Bachelor of Architecture is a five-year programme approved by the Council of Architecture. Applications are online. Candidates must have passed 10+2 examinations with 50% aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics as well as at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination, as well as cleared the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) or JEE (Paper 2).  

Saveetha Liberal Arts 
They offer BComs, BScs, BBAs and BAs programmes across variety of liberal arts and science subjects. Application is via an online form. 

Saveetha School of Physical Education 
They offer a Bachelor of Physical Education, candidates require a degree, and Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports, candidates require a 12th pass. Both programmes are 2 years. 

Saveetha Engineering College 
They offer BE and BTech degrees across agricultural, medical, chemical, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering as well as artificial intelligence, information technology, medical electronics and computer science. See the full list of courses and admissions information on their website. 

Saveetha Medical College 
Find MBBS, MD, MS, DM, MCh, PhD, MSc, SISU and fellowship admissions information on their website. Their MD and MS courses require candidates to have passed MBBS with a minimum of 50% and have completed, or will complete, an internship year, plus be NEET-PG 2021 qualified. International students will need the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) and be registered with the NMC.

SIMATS has two campuses, their Poonamalle Campus and there Thandalam Campus. They have 10,000 students in total and see over 4,000 patients a day. The Saveetha Medical College and Hospital is attached and is a 24/7 free hospital with 1,200 beds as well as advanced equipment and technology. They carry out advanced surgeries including organ transplant, cardiothoracic surgery and joint replacement and tertiary care facilities, take part in community outreach and have an air ambulance facility.  

The university has strong links with research, business and industry institutions in India and internationally. They are equipped with infrastructure, facilities and resources for learning, with a modern, application-orientated curriculum and teaching methodology, shown by their more than 330 patents.  
Their faculty, 1,600 in total featuring over 680 PhD faculty and a 1:6 faculty student ratio, are committed and devoted with a passion for teaching students. Their college system aims to foster a sense of community between tutors and students, and among the students themselves.

They offer a strong research focus, with libraries, research labs, collaborations, MOUs (memorandum of understanding) with national and international universities, a culture of pursuing research even as an undergraduate, numerous publications in reputed indexed and high impact journals, plus new patents. 
SIMATS has a rich history of contributing over ₹ 1400 crores towards social and health welfare.  They have conducted thousands of health camps, telemedicine, tele conference, NCC and NSS. Their curriculum enables students to participate in these activities and gain elective credits, and 98% of their students participate in numerous activities for health promotion and welfare.  

SIMATS offers community and mental health support, disaster support, social clubs and other student-focused activities. They also ensure that former students are always connected through the Alumni Association. Their alumni work all over the world holding high positions in various institutions, companies, organisations and as such play a vital role in curriculum and skill development at SIMATS by giving regular feedback on the necessities of knowledge and skills of the current world in their respective domains.  
SIMATS has numerous in-house research and testing facilities that can be used by students and faculty, including 159 departmental lab facilities, 20 centres of excellence with advanced tools and research, 17 research unit parks, 6 industry institute interface units and 4 technology transfer centres. They also have an entrepreneurship Cell, a patents and copyright facilitation, awards and achievements related to innovation, and start-ups support.
