The ISE department started offering a Master of Science program in 1984, over time the single graduate program evolved into four programs. The programs offered today are the Master of Science, the Master of Engineering and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD); all in the field of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Also, the department offers an MX (Professional Master) in Maintenance and Reliability. In this section of the graduate bulletin, information about all of these programs is provided.

The MS program in Industrial & Systems Engineering has been offered since 1984 and its requirement is thirty (30) credit hours. The thirty credit hours consists of twenty-four (24) credits for course work and six (6) credits for the thesis. Nine credit hours are core courses, and the rest fifteen credit hours are electives. Students are allowed to take up to six (6) credit hours from the fifteen electives credit hours, from other relevant engineering disciplines. Also in rare circumstances, students can take at most two courses from senior level to fulfill elective courses requirements.

Graduates in Engineering, computer science, mathematics and related areas are eligible to apply for admission to the mater programs provided they satisfy the graduate college admission requirements. All students joining the master programs must have sufficient background in the following area:

  1. Statistics and probability equivalent to ISE 325 and ISE 320.
  2. Operations research equivalent to ISE 303.
  3. Production planning and control equivalent to ISE 402.

The graduate committee will ensure that admitted students satisfy these admission requirements and if a student has a deficiency he will be asked to make up for it through make-up courses.
