What is the purpose of this study programme?
Printers, smartphones, air temperature thermostats, refrigerators with digital management mechanisms, smart washing machines, robot grass trimmers, and vacuum cleaners—all of these are products of mechatronics and robotics engineers that we encounter daily. These devices play a crucial role in household chores and serve as integral components of advanced technical systems, medical equipment, and manufacturing for warfare and production.
Mechatronics and robotics specialists have significantly contributed to the fourth industrial revolution, resulting in a reduced demand for human labor. Machines and robots, capable of independent decision-making and organizing work, are replacing human tasks, with humans assuming supervisory roles.
Mechatronics and robotics represent a scientific discipline that integrates key engineering fields, including mechanics, electronics, electrotechnics, automatics, and informatics. The objective of this study program is to prepare versatile specialists proficient in technological, organizational, construction, mechatronic, and robotic systems exploitation, as well as digital production supervision engineering and expertise-advisory work. Throughout the program, students acquire knowledge in IT and programming.
While a vacuum cleaner may appear as a mechanical device, it can also function as an electronically operated robot. It independently vacuums a room, avoiding obstacles through electric impulses and selecting necessary trajectories. The artificial intelligence governing the robot is developed by mechatronics and robotics specialists, significantly enhancing the quality of human life.
What will students learn?
Some key abilities and knowledge that Mechatronics and Robotics study programme helps students develop and acquire include: - Knowledge of mechanics, applied electronics and mechanisms as well as robot operation systems theories;
- Knowledge of mechatronic and robotic systems design methods;
- The ability to identify and analyze technical (manufacturing) issues and solve them;
- The ability to formulate and solve mechatronics and robotics tasks;
- The ability to design and research mechatronics and robotics systems;
- The ability to create mechatronics and robotics equipment manufacturing technologies;
- The ability to implement digital manufacturing;
- The ability to operate complex technical equipment.
What about career opportunities after Bachelor's degree studies?
Once you have graduated, you will be employable as a specialist able to:
Work at Lithuanian Engineering Production Association enterprises that produce and distribute mechatronics and robotics devices;
Work in the field of automatization, automated surface processing and installation robots, robotic lines implementation and maintenance, diagnostics and space products formation areas;
Work at pharmaceutic, food, light industry and other enterprises;
Pursue the second-cycle (master's degree) education under the joint study programme Mechatronics or Mechatronics Systems. The programme is implemented in association with German Braunschweig University of Technology, and in collaboration with the following enterprises: "Arginta", "Traidenis", "Precizika Metrology", "Loro", "Vilniaus baldai", "Intersurgical", etc.

Admission Requirements
- Secondary School Graduation Certificate with good results (minimum 60% CGPA)
- Entrance score (KB) consists of grades in three subjects: mathematics (M), physics/another science subject/social science subject (F) and English language (A). The entrant's grades are normalized to the maximum possible grade. The normalized grades of individual subjects are multiplied by the weighting factor and added up (formula below).
- Applications must be accompanied by legalized English translations of all transcripts. Unofficial copies are not accepted. Please check country specific requirements for detailed information.
- English language proficiency.
- Due to significant differences in applicants' achievements in Mathematics, applicants who have graduated from secondary or vocational schools in Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Nepal are required to take the Mathematics entrance exam organized by OMPT. The exam grade will be included in the Entrance score in place of the mathematics grade. The exam must be passed with a result of no less than 60% for admission to university-level Bachelor's degree study programmes and 50% for admission to professional Bachelor's degree study programmes.
- Candidates are required to submit an essay(s) for acceptance
