Graduates of this study programme, Officers in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) and future ship masters, will be able to safely handling and manage ships of varies types of unlimited tonnage, plan and carry out a safe and cost-effective ship voyage, effectively operate modern navigational systems. What will you learn? You will learn how:
safely operate vessels of unlimited tonnage;
plan and execute a safe and cost-effective voyage;
effectively operate modern navigation and radio equipment;
apply knowledge of social, economic, environmental and technological sciences in the planning, management and control of the ship’s operations, in accordance with national and international general and maritime legislation, IMO conventions, quality standards and STCW requirements.
Where can you make an internship? Practical professional skills are acquired during the internship while working on board of various types of seagoing vessels (containerships, bulkers, tankers, Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax, etc.) in various seagoing regions around the world. The Certificate of Competence (CoC) is issued after the successful completion of the study programme and acquiring 12-month seagoing internship. The duration of professional internship is 12 months:
6-month professional seagoing internship (after the 2nd year);
6-month graduation seagoing internship (after the 3rd year).
The place of internship: Seagoing vessels of 500 GT or more.
What are career opportunities after graduation? The Certificate of Competency obtained gives the opportunity to assume the position of the leading specialist of the ship’s crew, as the assistant to the master on duty; after accumulating the length of service prescribed by the legislation of the Ministry of Communication of the Republic of Lithuania, the individual can assume the position of chief assistant to the OICNW, and later the OICNW, on board ships of unlimited tonnage, unrestricted navigation area, and various purposes. The competences acquired and the documents certified allow you to pursue a maritime career as a master on board vessels flying the flag of any State. After completing the professional career of a seafarer, it is possible to establish a maritime business company or gain employment in one, as well as in the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration, the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, the industries of coastal and inland water transport, etc.

Secondary School Graduation Certificate with good results (minimum 60% CGPA)
Entrance score (KB) consists of grades in three subjects: mathematics (M), physics/another science subject/social science subject (F) and English language (A). The entrant's grades are normalized to the maximum possible grade. The normalized grades of individual subjects are multiplied by the weighting factor and added up (formula below).

Due to significant differences in applicants' achievements in Mathematics, applicants who have graduated from secondary or vocational schools in Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Nepal are required to take the Mathematics entrance exam organized by OMPT. The exam grade will be included in the Entrance score in place of the mathematics grade. The exam must be passed with a result of no less than 60% for admission to university-level Bachelor's degree study programmes and 50% for admission to professional Bachelor's degree study programmes.
