The purpose of the educational program is to train specialists in biotechnology and bioengineering who are competitive in the labor market for state, local, regional, and foreign institutions, as well as to train highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel capable of innovative activities in the field of science, education and industry. The program is designed to develop advanced competencies in areas such as genetic and cellular engineering, molecular biology, microbiological and industrial biotechnology, biotechnology of biologically active compounds, biomedical technologies, omics research (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics), bioinformatics, bioreactor and enzymatic technologies, as well as environmental and agricultural biotechnology.  Doctoral students are trained to design and implement innovative biotechnological solutions, conduct comprehensive scientific research, and analyze and interpret data using modern analytical and digital methods.

Admission of foreign citizens to METU on a fee-paying basis is carried out based on the results of an interview conducted by the METU Admission Committee throughout the calendar year. Enrollment of foreign citizens is carried out in accordance with the academic calendar, no later than 5 (five) days before the start of the next academic period (admission before the start of the 2nd semester is allowed). Documents in a foreign language must be submitted with a notarized translation into Kazakh or Russian. Educational documents issued by foreign educational institutions are subject to the recognition procedure in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan after the applicant’s enrollment, within the first academic period of study.

Yes, all students who require dormitory accommodation will be placed in the “Studhouse METU” dormitory or in dormitories and student hostels of nearby universities. For the safety of residents, the dormitories are under 24-hour security, equipped with video surveillance, access control, and a concierge service to prevent unauthorized entry.
Admission of foreign citizens to METU on a paid basis is conducted based on an interview held by the METU Admissions Committee. The interview lasts 20 minutes and evaluates the applicant's knowledge and interest in the chosen program.
Each foreign student is assigned a curator who assists throughout the entire period of study, including guidance on clubs, internships, and other activities.
Upon arrival, it is necessary to make a notarized translation of the educational document into Kazakh or Russian in two copies: one is submitted to the Admissions Committee, and the second to the Public Service Center to apply for nostrification. This service is paid and costs up to $80, depending on the annually approved Monthly Calculation Index.
Tuition fees may be adjusted in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education” in case of significant changes in the cost of educational services, labor costs, or inflation, but not more than once a year. In such cases, the parties sign a corresponding supplementary agreement.
