The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in the context of regional, national and global spheres.
Hitherto, alumni of M.A. History has gone on to pursue PhD at Aligarh Muslim University and State University of New York at Stony Brook. Yet others are working as school teachers with government and private schools, and cleared competitive exams. Students have cleared UGC-NET, CTET and their state-level counterparts. Students and research scholars of the department have been associated with a variety of research initiatives sponsored of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Architectural and Cultural Heritage), ICHR (Indian Council for Historical Research) and ICSSR (Indian Council for Social Science Research).
