The Music major offers two concentration tracks, one in Music Technology and one in Music Performance, of 15 credits each. To be eligible to declare a Music major, students need to choose one concentration track and follow the relevant declaration policy listed below.

Music Technology Concentration

The Music Technology Concentration provides students with a foundation for careers in sound engineering, and music production. Its curriculum covers essential skills such as recording, editing, and composing music for various media, including video and film. The concentration requires training in both Western and Arab music theory and literature, with an emphasis on sight-reading, musical analysis, ensembles, and piano proficiency. Students also gain practical skills in MIDI technology, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and advanced techniques for mixing and mastering, equipping them for both professional work and personal music projects.

Music Performance Concentration 

For students pursuing the Music Performance concentration, the focus is on achieving high- level performance skills in either voice or an instrument. The concentration requires training in both Western and Arab music theory and literature, with an emphasis on sight-reading, musical analysis, and piano proficiency. Students in the Music Performance concentration will participate in ensembles, concerts, and solo recitals, developing a professional-level proficiency in their chosen instrument. In addition to performance, students study the socio-cultural contexts of music, compose and arrange works, and engage in research on musical traditions across history.
