ACU empowers students to think critically, ethically and to bring about change in their communities and professions. It is a publicly-funded university, and welcomes students and staff of all beliefs and backgrounds.

The University offers courses in four faculties – Education and Arts, Law and Business, Health Sciences, and Theology and Philosophy. Community engagement is a core part of every student’s experience, and is embedded within most courses.

ACU was founded from Catholic tertiary institutions that had been training teachers and nurses since the mid-19th century. It is now globally connected, and has relationships with more than 190 universities and educational institutions around the world, and is part of a global network of Catholic universities.

ACU offers the best of location and lifestyle with campuses in the most exciting cities in Australia including Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Ballarat and Adelaide*. In addition, we are one of few Australian universities with a presence in Europe, having recently opened the Rome Centre in Italy.

ACU has a rapidly increasing reputation in research, and has seven new research institutes aligned with the four priority research areas: Theology and Philosophy; Health; Education; and the Common Good and Social Justice.
