The Bachelor of Speech Pathology encompasses all aspects of communication including:speechwritingreadingsignssymbols and gestures.Speech pathologists also work with people who have difficulties swallowing food and drink, such as children with a cleft lip and palate.Clinical placement is offered throughout this speech pathology degree, starting in the first year. In the fourth and final year, clinical placement is a major part of the course. Students will be required to undertake clinical placements under the supervision of a practicing speech pathologist totalling over 1000 hours.

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Speech Pathology, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:
New South Wales
Prerequisites: English (Advanced) or English (Standard) (Band 4) or English as a Second Language (Band 4); plus at least one of biology, chemistry, physics, or personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE).
Queensland
Prerequisites: English (4, SA) and at least one of biology, chemistry, physics, health education or physical education (4, SA).
Victoria
Prerequisites:Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English; and a study score of at least 25 in one of biology, chemistry, physics, health and human development, or physical education.
