Applied Public Health core content delivers a background in factors that determine health at the community and population level, and how these can be shaped to effect improvements in health.The studies in Outdoor Recreation enable the application of this core knowledge base in the community and across populations through various settings, and allow students to understand the need for increased nature based play and engagement. There is a strong body of contemporary research that highlights the importance of the natural environments and their contribution to health and wellbeing.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent.

New South Wales

  • Recommended studies: English advanced, personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE), mathematics plus one of biology, chemistry or physics at year 12 level.

Queensland

  • Prerequisites: English (4, SA)
  • Recommended studies: One of health, physical education, mathematics biology, physics, chemistry or science 21 at year 12 level.

Victoria

  • Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English, and a study score of at least 25 in one of mathematics (any), biology, chemistry, outdoor and environmental studies, psychology, physical education, health or physics at year 12 level.
