At the end of his training, the student is expectd to master the basic notions in metallurgy such as phase transformations, physico-chemistry of metal production, their structures and characteristics, their thermal treatments, their forms, their degradation and the means of their protection. Hemust, among other things, be capable of: o Identify a steel or other metal according to its purpose; develop, shape and process it. o Characterize a metal or alloy and assign an identity (nuance). o Model a process in the steel industry. o Address a preliminary project and analyse a problem in the field of metallurgy. o Recommend one metal over another for a specific use.
