Psychology is a fascinating science that gives you an insight into individuals and their unique behaviour. It involves learning about memory, language, creativity, personality, social interaction and brain processes.
This course gives you a thorough understanding of both the theory and application of psychology, and prepares you for a professional career in psychology or any number of career opportunities.
In second year, students do have the option of undertaking 'Volunteering and Employability'. This can include an element of work placement.
The applied focus of the course provides you with the opportunity to specialise in the areas which interest you most.
You'll learn about the latest research and professional practice in areas such as forensic, sport and work psychology.
Before completing your studies, you'll be able to choose whether to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) qualification. Both awards are accredited by the British Psychological Society and will make you eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartership, the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
You'll develop a range of practical, intellectual, research and transferable skills, including psychological and social research methods, group working, communication, critical thinking and problem solving. Standard Entry Requirement: BBBB Preferably including English or a Literary Subject*. If no literary subject is achieved at Higher, we will consider applications where National 5 English has been achieved at grade B or above. National 5 grade C in Maths or Applications of Maths.We accept the following Maths Access course offered by the University of Aberdeen in place of the National 5 Maths requirement: https://on.abdn.ac.uk/courses/access-maths-5.

A Level
BCC Preferably including English or a Literary Subject*. If no literary subject is achieved at A level, we will consider applications where GCSE English has been achieved at grade B/5 or above.
GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths.
Irish Leaving Certificate
Grades H2, H2, H3, H3 at Higher Level preferably including English or a Literary subject*. If no literary subject is achieved at Higher Level, English must be achieved at grade O3 or above.
Grade O4 at Ordinary Level in Maths.
BTEC (QCF) Extended Diploma Level 3
Minimum grades DMM (Merit, Merit, Merit) preferably in a related subject. If not in a related subject, we will consider applications where GCSE English has been achieved at grade B/5 or above.
GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths.
BTEC (QCF) National Diploma Level 3 plus A Level
Minimum grades DM (Merit, Merit) preferably in a related subject. If not in a related subject, we will consider applications where GCSE English has been achieved at grade B/5 or above.
A Level grade C.
GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths.
Higher National Certificate
Pass HNC in preferably Social Science with grade B in the graded unit. National 5 grade C in Maths or Applications of Maths is also required.
Other literary based HNCs may be considered
If the literary criteria has not been achieved at HNC, we will consider applications where National 5 English has been achieved at grade B or above.
International Baccalaureate Diploma
Award of Diploma with 28 points overall with three HL subjects at grades 6, 5, 4 preferably including English or a Literary subject* at minimum grade 5. If no literary subject is achieved at HL, English must be achieved at SL grade 5.
SL 4 Mathematics or Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation
T Level
Grade M
T Level preferably completed in a Literary subject. If not, GCSE English must be achieved at grade B/5 or above.
GCSE Maths at C/4.
*Literary subjects accepted: Modern Studies, History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies, Latin, Theology, Classics, Philosophy, A Level Government and Politics, A Level Classical Civilisation.
