The Master of Arts in Educational Counselling programme includes extensive training in the theory and practice of counselling, and 80 to 100 hours of supervised counselling practicum. The programme focuses on the collaboration between school and community and innovative approaches and strategies are used to address the needs of students in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and post-secondary institutions. The programme is currently accredited by Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA). Graduates of this programme are eligible to apply for membership of the HKPCA, and they can continue to pursue the status of HKPCA Certified Counsellor after graduation. Admission Requirements
- Hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree
- Preferably have some background in the fields of education or guidance and counselling, in either the school or community setting
- Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview or a test.
- IELTS (academic version)# Overall score of 6.0; or
- TOEFL (internet-based test)#: Score of 80 (for tests taken before 21 January 2026)/ Score of 4.0 (for tests taken from 21 January 2026 onwards); or
- Band 6 in the College English Test (CET)# with a total score of 430; or
- Grade C or above in GCSE / GCE OL English; or
- Other equivalent qualifications.
TOEFL Home Editions, TOEFL MyBest Score, IELTS Indicator, IELTS Online, IELTS One Skill Retake, Duolingo and National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (全國碩士研究生招生考試) are NOT acceptable.
