Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology and Community Studies and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Geography) (co-terminal double degree) is a teacher-training programme which aims to equip students with two social science disciplinary perspectives – both geographical and sociological – in analysing the complex relationships between individuals, societies, and the world. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to apply both disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical skills in the teaching sector. Graduates will be eligible for applying as registered teachers in Hong Kong and could teach Geography and specific modules within Tourism and Hospitality Studies in secondary schools with the subject knowledge and pedagogical experiences provided in the programme. At the same time, students will be equipped with professional and generic skills that would be useful for other professional sectors dedicated to community advancement and sustainable development.
