Women and girls are half the human race, but you’d never know it from most history books or women’s current representation in positions of power. The diversity of female experience and the contributions women have made to their societies have been given short shrift for many centuries. But times are changing. If you want be part of that change, the women’s studies major at Fordham might be for you. In our program, you’ll investigate the diversity of women’s positions and experiences historically. You’ll also analyze gender today, especially where it intersects with race, class, and sexuality. It’s an interdisciplinary major, so you’ll take classes in the humanities, arts, and social and natural sciences. You’ll learn more than women’s studies here. You’ll also study philosophy, theology, history, mathematics, languages, science, and the performing arts through Fordham’s common core curriculum, the centerpiece of our liberal arts education. Because of the growing importance of women's concerns globally, undergraduates with a concentration in Women's Studies are well prepared for professional programs in: law medicine business and graduate programs in social work, education, arts, and sciences Whether or not you choose to go to professional or graduate school, you’ll be especially well positioned to work in: education policy institutions development media social work private sector
