urkish Language and Literature; as a developed science discipline, continues to maintain its prestigious place among the world’s oldest languages and literatures.

Turkish Language and Literature Department was opened in 2015-2016 academic year in the Faculty of Science and Literature of our university in order to convey the cultural heritage that Turkish nation created in the field of language and literature to new generations.

Our department aims to educate the teachers, researchers and scientists who are in need of the field by giving the students the ability of recognizing literary sources, literary personalities, interpreting and examining the works of Turkish Language and Literature during the four years by qualified and experienced instructırs.

Our students who graduate from our department will be able to enrich their fields by taking elective courses during their education and by doing side branches and double branches.

After completing pedagogical formation training, they will be able to teach in the field of Turkish Language and Literature in the private schools connected to the Ministry of National Education.

Those who have completed master’s and doctoral education from our students will be able to work as teaching staff at universities when they meet the necessary conditions.

Our graduated students can also be editors in radio and television and they can work in text writing publishing houses in newspapers, libraries, museums and variety of institutions like this.

The department of Turkish Language and Literature’s language is Turkish and the English preparatory class depends on the will of the person.


FEATURES OF THE DEPARTMENT

- The language of instruction is Turkish and English preparatory class is optional.

- Our students are given the opportunity to do “Double Major” and “Minor” if they can fulfill the required conditions.

- Our Students prepare ”Graduation Project“ in fourth grade to encourage academic studies and to enable them to specialize in their fields in the following years.

- There are lots of interdisciplinary education programs in our derpartment as well as it is provided to take the extracurricular courses that will contribute to cultural and intellectual developments.

- Our students are directed to attend symposiums and seminars both in our university and in different universities.

- Our department aims to educate Turkish experts who have the ability to analyze beyond knowledge under the leadership of faculty members who respected place in the Turkish scientific worl

Student admissions to this programme are conducted in the framework of the regulations set by the Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK). This requires the candidate students to take a centralized national university placement examination organized by an autonomous public body called Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). International students are accepted to the programme according to the score of one of the following international exams: SAT I, GCE, ACT, ABITUR, IB, TAWJIHI, BACCALAUREAT LIBANAIS, BACCALAUREAT FRANÇAIS, AL-SAHADA, AL TAHANAWIYYA, GAOKAO. Exchange student admissions are made according to the requirements specified in the bilateral agreements signed by Istanbul Yeni Yuzyil University and the partner universities. Visiting student admissions are conducted according to Istanbul Yeni Yuzyil University Regulations (on education and exams in first and short cycle programmes), and upon the confirmation of the related academic units (faculty and department). f our students meet the criteria in the Double Major Education Application Principles and Minor Education Application Principles, they can do a double major or minor in the departments deemed appropriate by YÖK.
Students who successfully complete the courses in the curriculum of the undergraduate departments or college programs they are registered in and have a GPA of at least 2.00 are eligible to graduate.
Having a recurring course does not prevent a student from taking a recurring course, but the following conditions must be met: 1. The student's total course load in each term must be limited to 45 ECTS. 2. The student's GPA must be at least 2.0 out of 4.0. Note: The instructor of the recurring course or the student's advisor may decide that the student should not take the course, considering the academic weight of the courses, their content, their status in the curriculum, the number of students taking the course, the quota of the course, or any other factor. Note: First-year students cannot take recurring courses. All information regarding education, training, and exam principles can be obtained from the relevant regulation .
Those with a General Grade Point Average (GPA) below 2.00 can take 30 ECTS, those with a Grade Point Average (GPA) between 2.00-3.00 can take 36 ECTS, and those with a Grade Point Average above 3.00 can take 45 ECTS.
