The Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) program at KFUPM offers a comprehensive curriculum encompassing foundational science, engineering principles, and contemporary techniques. Students build a strong foundation in basic sciences and engineering fundamentals in the first year. The subsequent two years focus on essential elements of MSE through practical methods. During the final year, students specialize in their area of interest by selecting elective courses and engaging in a capstone senior design project. Elective courses cover various areas such as computational materials design, corrosion and degradation, nonmetallic materials, metallurgy and mining, energy, and water. Additionally, students receive training in digital technologies like artificial intelligence and data sciences and business fundamentals for potential entrepreneurship opportunities. MSE graduates can pursue careers as materials and corrosion engineers, materials research engineers, materials manufacturing engineers, or academic professionals in the materials field.
