This Tissue Engineering and Innovation Technology MRes is a one-year course that offers you the opportunity to undertake research in a rapidly evolving field of regenerative medicine.

You’ll look at new developments in tissue engineering, biomaterials, bone substitutes, 3D printing for customised implants and prostheses, imaging, dental restoratives and drug delivery.

You’ll get to work with academics directing a wide range of cutting-edge research projects, with an emphasis on turning early-stage innovations into new health products. You’ll also learn more about our research, which addresses fundamental challenges in biomedicine and dentistry and aims to create a step-change in the way biological systems are deciphered that goes well beyond the current state of the art.

Key benefits
  • Gain an understanding of core and specialised concepts in tissue engineering research.
  • Become familiar with research methods that allow a systematic and rigorous approach to acquiring knowledge in the field.
  • Learn research methodologies and strategies to develop and evaluate biomaterials, cell-biomaterial interaction and imaging modalities.
  • Access state-of-the-art facilities for cell culture, novel biomaterials development/ testing, and imaging, including spectroscopy, microscopy and endoscopy.
  • Build your laboratory-based research skills.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge required to implement and interpret research findings critically and effectively.
  • Enhance your knowledge of innovation technology, including translational research models and pathways to licensing and commercialisation of medical devices.
  • Train with internationally renowned academic staff.
  • Develop key transferable skills through written and oral communication of your research findings, time management and analytical skills.
