This one-year degree comprises of modules totalling 120 credits. It will explore how viruses and other pathogens replicate and cause disease, how the immune response is controlled, and how this knowledge can be used to develop novel therapies. Students will be equipped with the skills to understand and evaluate biomedical research. A core component is that all students complete a supervised research project in cutting-edge infectious disease or immunology labs. Students’ performance will be assessed through a combination of coursework and written/practical examinations. Forms of assessment may typically include presentations, exams and a dissertation. Coursework contributes approximately 30% and examinations approximately 70% to their final mark.
