 The model trajectory consists of 180 credits that you obtain during three Bachelor's years of approximately 60 credits each.

  • You'll gain insight into the most important legal domains. The foundation is laid in the first year of the Bachelor's program. From the second year onward, more attention is paid to specific legal domains, and this continues in the third year of the Bachelor's program in Leuven.
  • Auxiliary sciences, such as economics and fundamental philosophy, enrich your legal knowledge.
  • You will also follow training courses that develop and sharpen your legal skills .


In Brussels you can choose a bachelor's degree programme in Dutch or a trilingual bachelor's degree programme in Dutch, French and English.


If you choose the trilingual program, Bachelor of Laws (Brussels et al.), you will attend French- and English-language courses at the Saint-Louis campus of UCLouvain, near KU Leuven in Brussels. Over the three years of the bachelor's program, you will take approximately one-third of the courses in Dutch and one-third in French. The remainder consists of courses in English, a language of your choice, or in the two national languages ​​(team teaching). You will take exams at both institutions and earn a diploma jointly awarded by KU Leuven and UCLouvain. In the trilingual program, you will complete the three years of the bachelor's program in Brussels. Afterward, you can seamlessly transition to the master's degree in law in Leuven.


In the Dutch-taught Bachelor of Laws (Brussels) program, you'll take all your core legal courses in Dutch. Other languages ​​are also covered: in the "Français juridique" and "Legal English" tutorials, and in the courses "International and European Law" and "International and European Human Rights Law." In the Dutch-taught program, after completing your first and second year of the Bachelor's program in Brussels, you'll continue your third year in Leuven. You'll travel to this vibrant student city with your Brussels friends.

Diploma requirements -  The European Baccalaureate awarded by the Board of Governors of the European School; -  The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva; -  The baccalaureate awarded by the Ecole du Shape in Casteau; -  Applicants who obtained a secondary education degree or university degree awarded by a recognized educational institution from a country that has ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention can be admitted provided they can be admitted in that country to a programme that is equivalent to the Bachelor of Laws. -  Applicants who obtained a secondary education degree or university degree in a country that has not ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention (incl. GCE), provided it grants access to an equivalent programme as the Bachelor of Laws in that country.
Language requirements Applicants who have obtained a diploma of secondary education issued by the Flemish Community, the French-speaking Community or the German-speaking Community of Belgium are exempted from the language requirements.
All other applicants should submit proof of their Dutch, French and English language proficiency.
Dutch language proficiency The minimum requirement for Dutch language proficiency is B2 of the ERK (European Framework of Reference). This can be proved on the basis of: - A certificate proving successful completion of at least 1 year of secondary or higher studies in full-time Dutch-speaking education. - One of the certificates of Dutch language proficiency mentioned on this webpage: www.kuleuven.be/english/admissions/lang/dutch-proficiency.
French language proficiency The minimum requirement for French language proficiency is B2 of the ERK (European Framework of Reference). This can be proved on the basis of: - A certificate proving successful completion of at least 1 year of secondary or higher studies in full-time French-speaking education. - A certificate proving successful completion of the following tests: DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) or TCF (test de connaissance du français)
English language proficiency Supplementary exemptions from submitting a certificate of English language proficiency - Applicants who have obtained a secondary education degree or a higher education degree in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the USA (the degree and transcripts suffice, provided they can prove that the entire study was completed in English). - Applicants who have obtained a European Baccalaureate diploma and who can prove that at least 16 course hours per week were taught in English (Physical Education not included). - Applicants who have obtained an International Baccalaureate if at least half of their courses are taught in the English language.
