- Research and learning activities are conducted over the whole materials cycle from mineral processing and extraction, to advanced materials (including nano- and bio-materials), and materials recycling;
- Faculty members have industrial connections which can help graduates land post-graduation jobs. In addition, many projects have industrial collaborators which will provide students with exposure to possible future employers.

- Except in special cases for highly-qualified B.Sc. or B. Eng. degree holders, applicants should hold a Masters degree in a relevant field.
