The MA in Classics and Ancient History program at Navoi State University is a research-oriented graduate program designed in line with the MA in History, with a specialized focus on ancient civilizations and classical heritage. The program provides advanced academic training in the history, culture, literature, philosophy, and material legacy of the ancient world.
At the beginning of the academic year, students select a research topic related to Classics or Ancient History in consultation with a supervisor. This topic guides their academic work throughout the program and culminates in the completion and defense of a Master’s dissertation. Students are trained in historical and philological research methods, source criticism, historiography, and the interpretation of ancient texts and archaeological evidence.
The curriculum combines specialized theoretical courses and research seminars covering ancient civilizations, classical antiquity, and their cultural and historical influence on later societies. Emphasis is placed on working with primary sources, including ancient historical texts, inscriptions, and translated classical works, as well as modern scholarly literature.
