The Bachelor of Science of Environmental Science (BSES) is based on the major disciplines of science such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth and marine sciences, and mathematics. The BSES program includes training in the social sciences in order that its graduates will be equipped to understand the important role of ethics, society and culture in the environment.
The BSES program aims to expose students in an integrated way to environmental processes and phenomena, as well as environmental issues, from the perspective of natural sciences. It aims to train them to recognize and understand the natural environment, how humans affect the environment, and how the environment impacts on society.
The BSES program aims to produce professionals who are (1) equipped with sufficient knowledge on the scientific theories and techniques needed to monitor and understand environmental quality; (2) able to integrate and apply the various disciplines towards the understanding of environmental problems; (3) knowledgeable relevant local, regional and global environmental issues; and (4) able to employ a rational structured approach to solving environmental problems.
