Course Description: According to the regulation of the Ministry of
Higher Education and Scientific Research, the duration of study is 3 years as
below:
First Year:

The 1st Semester comprises five
modules, including one general module and four core modules relevant to the
department, and they follow the class activities such as
Assignments, seminars, quizzes, and exams with other activities.
·
The 2nd Semester includes formulating
the PhD thesis proposal, assigning a supervisor, and delivering a seminar
presentation.
Second and Third Years:
· Each
year comprises of two semesters (1st and 2nd Semester), students
undertake their Ph.D. Thesis.
The Ph.D.
program is structured with a total of 180 European Credit Transfer and

Must have an MSc Certificate in the field of Food Science. Individuals
who meet the department's minimum requirements and who fit the guidelines set
forth by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
How to Apply:
According to the application opens via the Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research.
Language Requirement: IELTS 6.0 overall or equivalent or (Intermediate) certificate is
accepted from international English language centers that belong to
universities.
Scientific Ability Exam Process:
Ø The
postgraduate scientific committee of the college specifies including (four or
five) core modules.
Ø An
examination that is written usually takes three hours.
Ø The
competition is among students who succeed in the exam.
Ø Based on
the number of seats available, students who pass the exam competing with one
another.
Thesis Submission Process:
Ø
Get the supervisor's approval on the thesis.
Ø
College formatting approval with college
affiliation (before defense).
Ø
Submit the first copy of the Ph.D. thesis to
the graduate study office.
Ø
Scientific evaluation approval of Ph.D. thesis.
Ø
Submit a paper copy to the thesis examination
committee.
Ø
Makes the corrections specified by the thesis
examination committee.

For a PhD's Degree at Sulaimani Polytechnic University www.spu.edu.iq,
Langauge-type exams are not a pre-requisite during Applying time or Enrollment
Process but before getting the degree, or the PhD's viva discussion, It is
required by the applicant that he/she has to get the exam type or at least a
certificate of Pre-Intermediate(for Humanities Fields) or a certificate of Intermediate(for
Medical, Engineering, Natural, Practical and Pure Sciences Fields) of the local
language centers of the public universities in Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
