Students in the newspaper and online journalism program learn to meet the challenges of the complex and evolving news industry, including digital platforms. Classes cover how to produce content using all the written and visual tools, and how to deliver it and design it for all the platforms where news is featured. Emphasis remains on learning the traditional core skills such as interviewing, reporting and writing. Newspapers and websites constantly stream updates to their consumers through a variety of formats. We'll teach you how to keep up with the technology, but your foundation will be in storytelling with the highest journalistic integrity the standard at the Newhouse School. You start by learning news writing, reporting, visual and interactive communications and editing. Later, you study law, ethics and specialized reporting, which could include a trip to the New Hampshire primary or an international location. You'll learn from our newspaper and online journalism faculty, who've honed their craft at the nation's top newspapers and partner websites. Take advantage of Newhouse's other programs by selecting electives in news design, new media business, social media, photography or other areas.
