The first academic program in Taiwan aims for clinical applications of personalized medicine. Master Program in Clinical Genomics and Proteomics was established in 2013. This program provides the comprehensive classes in genomics and proteomics. With the collaboration between clinical groups, we pursuits the mission of translational medicine and optimization of drug prescription. Through the communication with international scholars, the program helps expand international perspectives.
Why might different ethnic populations require different doses of drug? How come some of us are allergic to drugs? Since the completion of the Human Genome Project, we have a better understanding of the word "susceptibility". By examining an individuals DNA sequence, clinicians can use the information to prescribe the right drug at right dose for every patient. In this way, we can optimize drug efficacy and prevent adverse drug reactions. This concept is called "Personalized Medicine". The Master Program in Clinical Genomics and Proteomics is an innovative program that is infused with the concepts of "Translational Medicine". Our goal is to combine cutting edge technology of genomics and proteomics, focusing on the optimization of drug prescription. Interdisciplinary research and international education are our strengths. "Interdisciplinary Research" provides students with opportunities for cross-disciplinary training in different areas. "International Education" broadens students' horizon with a prestigious master's degree in this field. We look forward to welcoming you and having you join the "Master Program in Clinical Genomics and Proteomics" at Taipei Medical University.
