The Faculty of Biology is the center in charge of organizing teaching and the academic, administrative and management processes leading to obtaining the degrees of Bachelor of Biology, Graduate in Biology and Graduate in Biotechnology, as well as those others that, related to these, are officially established and valid throughout the national territory, including, within the scope of its competence, the different university master's degrees that it is assigned to teach.
The duration of the Degree in Biotechnology is 4 years. The minimum number of credits required to obtain the degree is 240 ECTS credits.

Admission profile:
  • Recommended baccalaureate with the EBAU passed: Sciences and Technology
  • Recommended higher level training cycle: Higher Technician of Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory and Higher Technician of Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory.
  • Access test for people over 25, 40 or 45 years of age.
  • University degree.
The ideal candidate is the one who feels comfortable with the physical-mathematical, chemical and biological disciplines. You should have good analytical skills and abstract comprehension, deductive skills, interest in experimentation and technique, as well as a good level of English.
Professional outings: The Degree in Biotechnology is designed to allow professional practice without carrying out other complementary studies, although graduates can choose to specialize later through a master's degree or do a doctorate.

The University of Oviedo offers a wide range of opportunities and studies in all areas of knowledge, including Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Law, and Engineering and Architecture. There are several campuses located in the region of Asturias in the cities of Oviedo and Gijón, as well as in Mieres.

In the field of Social Sciences and Law, in addition to the Double Degree in Business Administration and Law, there are undergraduate degrees in Law, Early Childhood Education (at "Padre Ossó" Faculty and Llamaquique Campus, Oviedo), Pedagogy, Labour Relations and Human Resources, Social Work, Social Education ("Padre Ossó" Faculty), Primary Education ("Padre Ossó" Faculty), as well as a Distance Learning Degree in Public Management and Administration (online mode). There  are also bilingual degrees such as Business Administration and Management, Commerce and Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Primary Education (bilingual degree only at Llamaquique Campus, Oviedo), and Tourism.

There are two modalities for bilingual degrees. In modality 1, the University offers the possibility of obtaining 120 credits by taking courses taught in English that are available for modality 1 bilingual programs These include the bilingual degrees in Business Administration and Management, Economics, Primary Education (Llamaquique Campus), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Automatic Electronics Engineering, Industrial Organization Engineering, Industrial Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technologies Engineering, Telecommunication Technologies and Services Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology Engineering and Chemistry.

In modality 2, 120 credits are obtained by complementing 60 credits obtained from courses taught in English at the University of Oviedo that are available for modality 2 bilingual programs with 60 credits obtained during an internship at a foreign university carried out throughout the degree. Modality 2 bilingual degrees include degrees in Commerce and Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Tourism, Civil Engineering, Mining and Energy Resources Engineering and Forestry and Environmental Engineering.
