The Faculty of Psychology houses the studies of Psychology and Speech Therapy framed within the field of Health Sciences. Located in the historic center of the city of Oviedo, despite its relative youth (1991), it has had constant growth and is fully consolidated within the national university scene.
Article 7 section F of the LOPS (Law on the Organization of Health Professions; Law 44/2003 of November 21) very briefly defines the figure of the speech therapist: the University Diplomas in Speech Therapy develop the activities of prevention, evaluation and recovery of hearing, speech and language disorders, through therapeutic techniques specific to their discipline.
The Degree in Speech Therapy has been regulated by Ministerial Order of March 26, 2009, as a healthcare profession, in terms of its own guidelines that must be compulsorily complied with by the curricula that enable it to be exercised. This Ministerial Order defines the necessary skills that must be acquired by speech therapy students for the subsequent exercise of the profession.
