The Master's Degree in Interventional Echocardiography is a highly specialized course designed to provide participants with adequate and up-to-date theoretical and practical training in interventional echocardiography. This will enable them to independently perform and interpret standard and three-dimensional echocardiographic examinations, as well as monitor the main structural cardiac interventional procedures. Participants will be exposed to all diagnostic imaging techniques useful for diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and the selection of the most appropriate treatment.

The Master's program is open to medical specialists in cardiology or related fields.

The objectives of the Master's program are the following:

  • Provide information regarding the methodology, indications and clinical use of two-dimensional and three-dimensional echocardiography;
  • Acquire elements of cardiovascular anatomy using multimodal imaging;
  • Expose the student to the most modern interventional therapeutic options for structural heart disease;
  • Learn to make recommendations for percutaneous or surgical treatment for structural heart disease;
  • Acquire elements of organization and safety of the work environment that involves the interaction between the interventional cardiologist and the imager (hemodynamics room);
  • To enable students to be independent at the end of the training course in monitoring the main structural interventional procedures.

Admission Requirements

Graduates in Medicine and Surgery may apply for admission to the master's program. Specialization in Cardiology or related specialties are preferred qualifications for admission to the master's program.

Admission to the Master's program is based on: Evaluation of qualifications and interview.

Each candidate can be awarded a maximum score of 13 points, distributed as follows:

  • Degree grade and related thesis: up to 2 points
  • Specialization in Cardiology and related fields, with related final evaluation and thesis: up to 3 points
  • Professional CV: up to 2 points
  • Scientific publications in subjects related to the course: up to 3 points
  • Interview: up to 3 points

There is a minimum threshold of 6 points below which the candidate may be deemed ineligible for admission to the Master's program.

The interview will be organized remotely following the evaluation of the applications.

For candidates with a qualification obtained abroad :

- Certified translation of the degree certificate and declaration of local value issued by the competent Italian representation in the country to which the institution that awarded the degree belongs.
