Demographic and epidemiological factors, such as the growing elderly population and the population with chronic diseases, have led to a rise in the number of people suffering from skin lesions. The prevalence of pressure ulcers alone is estimated to be over 15% of all hospitalized patients. Over the past twenty years, scientific literature has abundantly consolidated evidence regarding the effectiveness of nursing interventions for the prevention and treatment of skin lesions.
The aim of the Master's program is to enhance nurses' clinical skills in the treatment of skin lesions and to train professionals capable of caring for patients suffering from these lesions using the most up-to-date, evidence-based techniques within an educational relationship aimed at enhancing patients' self-care skills.
The training program offered by the Master's program has been designed to achieve the level of expertise required in Italy and Europe for a professional expert in the nursing care of skin lesions.
These areas of expertise guide both the construction of the study plan and the definition of the expected objectives for internships and learning from experience (internship).
