The MSc minimum course requirement is four courses plus the ethics course. At least two courses must be 600 or higher level courses in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering. The balance of the courses shall be at the 500 or higher level in the Faculty of Engineering, or at the 400 or higher level in a Science Department. Science courses at the 400 level must be approved by the supervisor and Associate Chair (Graduate). Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that uses principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, and economics to efficiently use, produce, design, transport and transform energy and materials. The work of chemical engineers can range from the utilisation of nano-technology and nano-materials in the laboratory to large-scale industrial processes that convert chemicals, raw materials, living cells, microorganisms, and energy into useful forms and products.
