Students on this accredited course are supported to become caring and compassionate professionals, developing the skills and experience they need to begin their nursing career. Students spend 50% of each year on placements with local NHS trusts and private and voluntary organisations, and simulate real-life nursing situations in the university's Clinical Skills and Simulation Suites. This enables them to gain real-world experience before they graduate and confidently put theory into practice. There is also the opportunity to experience nursing in a range of contexts including short overseas placements from 2–4 weeks, or a longer, 3-month international stay. On successful completion students are eligible to apply for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
