The University of Guelph offers the only interdisciplinary Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) Master's program in Canada. With a faculty comprised of internationaly renowned specialists, and the option to research and study abroad, the program provides graduate students with unique opportunities for personal growth and professional development. LACS is a bilingual program that can be done in either English or Spanish. LACS students receive extensive teaching experience with significant pedagogical training. After completing all the degree requirements, students receive both a Master’s degree and a College of Arts Certificate in Teaching. Pedagogical training and teaching experience give students a better chance of getting into Teacher´s Colleges. Teachers who have an MA get higher pay and have a better chance of advancing in the administrative stream.
