Accounting

Accounting research examines how accounting information is identified, measured, valued, and disclosed. Accounting research also examines how stakeholders use accounting information, the regulatory environment in which the accounting profession operates, the effects of standard setting bodies, and the judgment and decision making of accounting professionals and other organisational stakeholders.

Finance

Our enthusiastic and committed Finance group conducts research on the social, economic, and organisational aspects of financial reporting, corporate finance and governance, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, banking, risk management, accountability and governance. The group has a particular focus on applied research as many members have professional work experience as well as academic qualifications.

Specific areas of research supervision where applications are welcomed include the following:

  • Taxation
  • Corporate finance, international banking, and performance measurement
  • Corporate finance and corporate governance
  • Management accounting, public sector accounting, accounting issues in developing and emerging economies
