The history of the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mataram, which offers Mechanical Engineering program, began with the formation of a preparatory committee for the Mataram Technical High School (STTM). This school is prepared to become the embryo of the Faculty of Engineering. Due to the demands of the people of NTB, regarding the lack of experts in the field of Civil Engineering, especially in the field of water, to meet the needs of these experts, the Director General of Higher Education Decree Number: 68/DIKTI/KEP/1991 dated November 8, 1991, that the Mataram Engineering College changed its status to Civil Engineering study program under the leadership of Ir. Sasmito, MS. With the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 0375/0/1993 dated October 21, 1993, the Civil Engineering study program officially became the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mataram, led by Ir. Morisco, Ph.D.
