The undergraduate tourism and hospitality management course at UTAS is a broad-based course aimed at preparing students to enter careers not only in tourism and hospitality, hotel and restaurant management, and travel services but also in other related sectors. Based on theoretical inputs and practical training, the course covers managerial competencies, customer-service skills, and a deep understanding of global and local tourism dynamics.
Students gain knowledge in:
Hospitality management, hotel and food & beverage operations, and service quality;
Tourism industry operations - tour planning, destination management, cultural tourism, and event/tour operations;
Business fundamentals: management, finance, marketing and operations relevant to the tourism/hospitality sector;
Customer service, intercultural communication, and service-oriented soft skills necessary for hospitality and tourism;
Practical experience through internships and industry involvement by hotels, resorts, travel agencies, restaurants, and cultural institutions that will prepare them for entry-level positions. Graduates of the program will be qualified in a wide variety of roles that include hotel or resort management, restaurant and food-service management, travel agencies and tour operator companies, event and conference management, tourism development and promotion agencies, and other service-oriented businesses. It is the goal of this program to develop professionals who are responsive to the challenges and opportunities now unfolding in Uzbekistan's emerging tourism market and elsewhere within the global hospitality industry.
