The Russell School of Chemical Engineering at TU prepares undergraduate students to solve industrial problems through progressive coursework and rigorous design projects with optional research. Graduate students are guided through advanced coursework and research projects to a more theoretical understanding of the field. Chemical engineering is a broad discipline, training individuals to use chemistry, physics, mathematics and engineering for the advancement of mankind and solution of societal problems through technological innovation. TU’s chemical engineering programs are strongly tied to the energy industry with both petroleum and alternative sources. Students who pursue a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering have the option of specializing in petroleum refining, materials, environmental, pre-med or business in addition to the general option, which allows students the most flexibility in choosing coursework in their own areas of interest. A dual degree program leading to a bachelor of science and a master of science in chemical engineering is also available. Graduates of our B.S. program often choose either careers in industrial design or processing facilities or advance to graduate studies in chemical engineering or other professional programs such as medicine, law or business administration. Students learn to apply chemistry, physics, mathematics and optionally biology to solve design problems related to chemicals and materials processing. Graduates are equipped with skills high in demand such as refining, petrochemical, chemicals, fuels, drugs, food, environmental, pulp and paper, and other production and processing areas.
