USU Online history majors work in depth on undergraduate research projects. Learn the skills need to research, analyze, think critically, and communicate clearly. About one-third of USU history graduates go on to teaching, while two-thirds go into law, medicine, or business fields. Through analytical research of the past, students develop essential skills for many in-demand careers. Historical study expands one’s ability to investigate problems, identify reliable sources, analyze information, contextualize complex questions, and communicate conclusions in a clear and thoughtful manner. The USU Online history curriculum provides specialized academic training and prepares students to work in a variety of fields. USU graduates are well prepared to work in industries such as cultural heritage and tourism, government, and corporate finance and analysis. Some of the more popular career fields include preservation and historical education, communicator (writer, journalist, etc.), information manager (archivist, military intelligence, etc.), and businesses and associations. Undergraduates can earn either a BA, which requires proficiency in a foreign language, or a BS degree, which requires a significant amount of coursework in the College of Science.
