The Research Master Business Data Science aims to train future Business PhD students, with a strong focus on Data Science.

Tinbergen Institute’s research master Business Data Science is a joint degree of the Schools of Economics and Business of Erasmus University Rotterdam, the University of Amsterdam, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The two-year program (120 EC) is designed to prepare future PhD students in the business and econometrics departments (spanning disciplines such as business analytics, human resources, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and more), with a strong focus on data science.  

This research master’s program is tailored for students with strong analytical and quantitative skills, providing rigorous training in preparation for a doctoral degree in business and econometrics departments.

Students must have at least a Bachelor's degree demonstrating strong analytical and quantitative skills. The Bachelor’s program should have been completed before the start of the Research Master program. Valid GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and/or GRE (Graduate Record Examinations, General test) results are required from all applicants who are not holding a Dutch degree before the start of the program. Applicants with a GMAT score below 700 or a GRE Quantitative score below 160 will not be considered. Successful applicants typically rank among the top 10% of examinees on the quantitative section of the GMAT and GRE.
