Master of Science in Education

The degree is intended for students without prior special education certification who are currently teaching with a special education caseload, are seeking special education endorsement, or want to expand their ability to teach students with disabilities in their general education classrooms. The Master of Science in Education program provides teachers who have general education certification with induction and mentoring support, a strong foundation of initial competencies in special education, and an introduction to advanced competencies in special education. Program features are: focus on induction and mentoring in special education, opportunity to develop both initial and advanced special education competencies, applied projects that assist candidates in bridging research to practice, a supervised clinical capstone, typically within one’s current teaching role, individualized to meet the candidate’s professional goals.
