The program is the study of technology and management practices needed to produce the imaged products that are used in all aspects of lives. Examples of these products include product packages, magazines, books, and newspapers (both print and mobile/tablet versions), mail advertisements, store displays and signs, printed electronics, and websites. The graphic communications industry is high-tech and rapidly changing. It requires a highly educated workforce for employment in positions such as project manager, digital media developer, web content manager, quality control specialist, sales representative, cost estimator, accounts manager, and production designer. The major requires students to complete 78 hours. These hours are divided into four sections: General Education, Graphic Communications Core, Concentration course, and Elective courses. The learning outcomes are: create and manage digital media content, including photographic, illustration, video, and animation; develop production-ready graphic layouts for both digital media and print products like publications, packages, labels, and signage; participate productively in a range of graphic production processes, including printing (litho, flexo, digital), e-publishing, and website development; employ a technology management skill set, including project management, quality control, cost estimating, and industry-specific business practices; learn independently within the context of the graphic communications discipline; solve problems within the context of the graphic communications discipline.
