On this BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree you will study mechanical engineering theory, practically apply your knowledge and skills in workshops and practical classes, and complete multiple design-build-test challenges with your fellow students. You will be issued a design brief in these challenges and use the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) engineering cycle to complete the project.

In your first year you will take part in a team CDIO challenge with other Mechanical Engineering students. The second year CDIO challenge is an interdisciplinary team challenge where you will work with students from other engineering subjects. In the final year you will work on an individual project and present your work technically to other engineers as well as to a non-technical audience.

This course contains many specialist modules to provide you with the breadth knowledge and skills you need need to prepare for a successful career in engineering and science.

As a general guide, for postgraduate study you'll need to hold the equivalent of a good honours degree (a 2:1 or 2:2 depending on the course) from a recognised university.

We also accept applications from students who have completed a 'top-up' degree at a UK university. If you hold a UK degree you don't need to provide an IELTS or other English language test certificate.
