We recognise that many Art students want to specialise from the outset of their degree, focusing the development of skills in one clear discipline area. The sculpture programme makes use of excellent specialist facilities that support a wide range of practice. There are specialist workshops in metal, wood, stone, and ceramics. We give regular demonstrations in techniques and processes and the whole area is run by technical staff and academic tutors, including visiting artists who bring professional expertise to the area. Sculpture encompasses a variety of skills and techniques enabling you to develop professional approaches to a range of making processes, including welding, casting, modeling, carving and assemblage. It also incorporates installation aspects of sculpture allowing you to work in a multidisciplinary way. We will encourage you to develop an intellectual curiosity, and a sense of adventure, with an ability to deal with the unpredictable.

As a general guide, for postgraduate study you'll need to hold the equivalent of a good honours degree (a 2:1 or 2:2 depending on the course) from a recognised university.

We also accept applications from students who have completed a 'top-up' degree at a UK university. If you hold a UK degree you don't need to provide an IELTS or other English language test certificate.
