In a world reliant on data to improve processes and monitor success, this course will help you gain transferable skills in AI to benefit your work place. It's been designed in response to the high demand for experts in big data analysis and modelling. Choose to take an optional 12-week work placement as part of your course and boost your employability.
The combined effect of the big volume of data availability on a global scale and a significant increase in processing power offered by technologies like cloud computing has made it possible to unlock the true potential of machine learning algorithms, extract features from data, and to expand the application domain of artificial intelligence.
The need to adapt and incorporate the ever-growing field of AI and it’s technologies into current business practices is putting increasing pressure on industries to invest in their legacy systems. Supported by Intel’s AI Academy through their online and data processing resources, the skills you will learn can be applied to AI-enabled business strategies and marketing, management of database records, e-business technologies, IT system development and design, and IT project management.
This course is designed to build on the skills of computer scientists, software engineers, IT professionals or established professionals in the areas of computing, mathematics and/or data analysis, to improve and create better systems in their industries, expanding knowledge of machine learning and enabling technologies.
Businesses also have the opportunity to present students on this course with their real life problems through attending as a guest lecturer. We also encourage you to attend local meetings and lectures organised by the IET and BCS, some of which are hosted by our University. This exposes you to engineers from local industries and introduces you to 'what's hot' in technology, an advantage to being based in the centre of Cambridge with its Science and Business Park.
If you do not have a degree in computing but are interested in studying this discipline at Postgraduate level, we now offer an MSc Applied Data Science. This conversion course is designed for those without a computing degree and will take you through the major building blocks of data science to help you graduate ready for a career in computing.
In order for you to gain the full benefits from this advanced Masters course in AI, it is strongly recommended that you ensure that you have some basic programming knowledge of Python prior to the start of your course.

Main: A first degree, with honours, at a minimum final classification of Lower Second (2.2), or equivalent, in a Computing, Electronics, Mathematics or Statistics subject. If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (Academic level- with no individual score being lower than 5.5) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
Notes: In order for you to gain the full benefits from this advanced Masters course in AI, it is strongly recommended that you ensure that you have some basic programming knowledge of Python prior to the start of your course.
Alternatives: If you have an unrelated honours degree (2.2 or above) or a foundation degree in Computing, plus work experience at a suitable level, you may be considered on an individual basis. Applicants may be invited for interview to determine their suitability for the course.
