The History BA (Hons) explores primarily contemporary or 19th and 20th century history. It focuses on important issues such as war and conflict, immigration, racism, nationalism and empire. Moving through the three years, students will study more specific topics and the subject matter will become increasingly complex. This course is particularly ideal for those interested in learning about British, South Asian, European and American History. Students can also specialise in areas that are either unique or extremely uncommon in History degrees delivered in the UK. The modules include photographic history, the history of sport and leisure, history of science, history of migration, history of ethnicity and racism, and history and employability. In addition, the lecturers’ geographical specialisations include the history of South Asia, Southeastern Europe, Central America, and Southeast Asia.
