The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is one of the prominent degree awarding departments within the faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, DUET. The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees among which the Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in EEE remains the central focus of the department. B. Sc. in EEE is a 4-year program consisting of equally divided 8 (eight) regular semesters. With a track record of producing outstanding EEE graduates, the department of EEE is committed to ensuring the quality of the program with its cutting-edge research laboratories and world-class faculty members. Successful completion of B. Sc. in EEE requires earning 143.00 credits where each theory courses have a weightage of 3 or 4 credits and each laboratory courses have a credit of 0.75 or 1.5. Apart from the theory and laboratory courses, a prospective graduates need to complete a year-long thesis/project under the supervision of a faculty member that is specially designed to improve the problem-solving capability and competency of working individually as well as in a team. Additionally, the students also need to participate in an internship program (referred to as industrial attachment in the curriculum) as a part of the degree requirement, where, they gain hands-on industrial training in a professional environment. Furthermore, as a part of different courses and project/thesis, the students are required to present their work followed by a viva-voce that enable the students to boost up their communication skill. The department of EEE takes special care to keep the course curriculum up to date. The course curriculum for B. Sc. in EEE is designed in accordance with the standard topics covered by the electrical engineering departments around the world including but not limited to basic science, electrical circuits, electrical machines, analog, digital and power electronics, electronic devices and industrial drives, electrical power system, control system, digital signal processing, analog and digital communication and so on. Also, the department offers a pool of specialized elective courses from which the students can choose a certain number of courses based on their preferences. It should be noted that while designing the curriculum, special care is taken to meet up the concurrent job and industrial demand. Additionally, the department has a dedicated committee (referred to as the departmental monitoring committee) consisting of a team of most experienced faculty members to regularly monitor the efficacy of the curriculum and recommend for any modification upon necessity. Apart from that, the department has a rigorous assessment system that comprises of two parts namely, continuous assessment and semester end assessment. The department along with the central administration, arrange the semester-end examination and each student is graded based on their overall performance on both the continuous and semester-end examination. In addition to all the above-mentioned academic activities, the department arranges conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. with the spontaneous participation of students making the program a full-fledged package to produce top-notch, skilled engineers.
